Capstone Pathways
Harpeth Hall’s three capstone pathways Global Scholars, Changemakers, and IDEAtors  empower students to engage in deep, meaningful learning that fosters curiosity, creativity, leadership, and purpose beyond the classroom.

Our capstone pathways

  • Showcase students’ intrinsic interest in complex topics that go beyond the core curriculum
  • Demonstrate a multi-year commitment (10th - 12th grades)
  • Require a thoughtful application process
  • Culminate in an authentic demonstration of learning to the community
  • Provide opportunities for students to collaborate with and mentor one another
  • Teach girls to listen and lead with strength, resolve, and compassion
  • Enrich relationships within our school and community by cultivating respect, integrity, and purpose beyond oneself

Through three distinct capstone concentrations, students explore real-world challenges, apply critical thinking, and create solutions that matter. By building knowledge and developing skills, capstone pathways cultivate innovation, empathy, and engagement to prepare students for an interconnected and rapidly changing world.

"Education, at its core, provides students with the tools that equip them to lead a meaningful and productive life. Philosophers and leaders across time have expounded on that purpose as they have observed the world around them. These scholars believed, as we at Harpeth Hall do, that building character and wisdom requires a widening of our singular experience and worldview."
- Jess Hill, Head of School

Global Scholars

The Global Scholars capstone pathway pushes our students to think beyond the geographic and cultural boundaries of the familiar in order to develop the skills and perspectives necessary to become effective and responsible global citizens.

Graduates who complete this pathway cultivate analytical skills necessary to research, synthesize, communicate, and collaborate in creating solutions to the most pressing problems of our ever-changing world.

Changemakers

The Changemakers capstone pathway offers students opportunities to engage deeply with pressing issues facing both local and global communities. Students critically examine the root causes of societal challenges and cultivate the skills to use their voices for meaningful change.

Graduates who complete this pathway deepen their sense of purpose and social responsibility, learn to advocate for others, and contribute to solutions that extend beyond our campus.

IDEAtors

The IDEAtor capstone pathway equips students to transform ideas into tangible, impactful products by engaging in innovation, design, and creation. Through curiosity-driven exploration and hands-on problem solving, students develop the skills to bring their concepts to life.

Graduates who complete this pathway exhibit resilience and critical thinking skills as they navigate the full iterative design process.
