Eleven National Merit Commended Students Announced for Harpeth Hall Bringing the Total National Merit Recognition to 20

The Harpeth Hall School is pleased to announce that 11 members of the Class of 2018 have been named National Merit Commended Students.

Harpeth Hall's National Merit Commended Students are Gavi Abelow, Lizzy Asad, Sydney Clayton, Margaret Gaw, Sophia Grande, Bradford Harrington, Caroline Kiesling, Claire Litchfield, Sunni Luo, Halle Petrie, and Charlotte Staggs.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced 34,000 Commended Students in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended Scholars represent the top 3.3 percent of all test-takers.

"Congratulations to these exceptional students for both their academic achievement and for this well-deserved recognition," said Dr. Stephanie Balmer, Head of School. "Our Commended Students are leaders in our school, and we applaud their accomplishments. We are deeply proud of this outstanding class."

In addition to 11 National Merit Commended Students, Harpeth Hall also announced nine National Merit Semifinalists last week. Twenty percent of the Class of 2018 was recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, and will be recognized at an upper school assembly on Thursday, October 26.
