Community Update: New Interim Head of School Announced

The Board of Trustees of Harpeth Hall School is pleased to announce that Jess Hill, former Upper School Director and teacher at Harpeth Hall, has graciously agreed to serve as our Interim Head of School, beginning mid-May 2018 with our end-of-school-year events and continuing through June 2019. Ms. Hill is currently serving as the Interim Director of Westminster School for Young Children (WSYC), where she will complete their 2017-2018 school year. While maintaining her duties and presence at WSYC this semester, she will serve as an advisor to our administration and leadership team at Harpeth Hall.

Ms. Hill's expertise in the education of girls and young women is unquestioned, and her knowledge of and love for the Harpeth Hall community has been evident for over two decades. Ms. Hill graduated with a B.A. from Sewanee - The University of the South and holds a Masters in Secondary Education from Vanderbilt University. She taught upper school mathematics for ten years at Harpeth Hall before serving as the Upper School Director from 2005 until 2017. Please join us in welcoming Ms. Hill back to our community and campus.

In the interim, Armistead Lemon, Director of the Upper School, Judi O'Brien, Director of the Middle School, and Tom Murphy, Director of Finance and Operations, will continue to collectively address the duties of Head of School, reporting directly to Emily Cate Tidwell '75 as Chair of the Board of Trustees and acting Head until Ms. Hill begins her duties in May.
