With a perfect set, a pristine swim stroke, and a stand-out stride, three Harpeth Hall students earned recognition for their athletic prowess this fall.
- Senior Claire Wilson, a setter on the volleyball team, earned a spot on Tennessee Sports Writers Association's all-state team and The Tennessean’s 2020 all-midstate volleyball team. Claire signed with the University of South Carolina to continue her athletic career next fall. In her final season with Harpeth Hall, she had 282 assists in nine games to help lead the program to the Division II-AA quarterfinals. She also had 73 digs and 73 kills and was named DII-AA Middle Region Co-MVP.
- Senior Gretchen Walsh landed a spot on The Tennessean’s 21 Nashville area high school athletes to watch in 2021. In November, Gretchen won the 50 freestyle at the U.S. Open. Her time of 24.65 moves her to No. 2 all-time in USA Swimming’s 17-18 age group behind Olympic champion Simone Manuel. Gretchen, a University of Virginia signee, also set national high school records in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle at the 2020 state meet. She was The Tennessean's 2020 Girls Athlete of the Year.
- Sophomore Bella Guillamondegui grabbed top honors as 2020 DII-AA Cross Country Runner of the Year in Tennessee. With two wins, four top-five finishes, and an 18:25.76 career-best, Bella led the pack in DII-AA. She finished her season with a 49th-place finish at the RunningLane National Championship in 18:34.73.
