Public Purpose in the Middle School

Each year middle school students have two Service Learning and Leadership Days, one each semester. The Service Learning and Leadership Day includes the following:

1) Service component: Off-campus agency visits
2) Learning component: Students are asked to contemplate and research the "why" behind the service they are doing and the agency they are serving
3) Leadership component: Students learn about exercising leadership skills throughout the day

Concepts introduced in the classroom are applied through hands-on, meaningful activities in our community. Each year students in fifth, sixth, and seventh grades are exposed to a variety of opportunities to serve. In eighth grade, each girl identifies an area of need that interests her and finds ways to serve that compliment her individual talents and passions.
