Student Life

At Harpeth Hall, girls can be whoever they want to be. From Model United Nations to Jane Austen, students can explore their interests and discover new passions through clubs, extracurricular activities, and more. Through this, Harpeth Hall students cultivate a supportive and tight knit-community that celebrates each other's successes as if they were their own.

Student Traditions

Upper School Prom

Every year, the junior class throws a spring prom for the senior class. The theme of the prom is always a secret until the prom reveal assembly on the day before spring break. This tradition is a highly anticipated event for all upper school students! Past themes have included, Met Gala: Mt. Olympus, Once Upon A Time: A Grimm's Fairytale, 1893 Chicago Worlds Fair, and A Night on the Nile.

Step Singing

Held the Sunday before graduation, Step Singing is a year-end event when the leadership of the school is passed from the senior class to the junior class. At this ceremony, which was brought to Harpeth Hall from Ward-Belmont, the junior and senior classes sing their class songs on the steps of the library and honor the Lady of the Hall, the highest honor given to a member of the senior class.

Honor Day

On the last day of school for all middle school students, we honor the 8th grade class for the completion of the middle school program. Our 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students attend Honor Day to share in the celebration.

Powder Puff

At the end of the year, seniors take on the juniors in a flag football match. It is such a fun event for all classes!

Graduation

At the end of the year, seniors conclude their time at Harpeth Hall with a graduation ceremony. In white dresses, they walk across Souby Lawn one last time on their way to future successes.

Club Song Competition

Will Angkors splash the competition away? Will Ariston chomp their way to the top? During Awards Day at the end of the year, the upper school intramural clubs compete in a song competition to see who will win the Club Cup for the year!

Distinguished Women Project

The distinguished women project has been a tradition for 6th grade students at Harpeth Hall for several years. It is a interdisciplinary project that introduces in-depth research on a subject from a variety of angles. The project ultimately culminates with the students “becoming” their distinguished woman for a special day of presentation.
