February 2019

WORDS FROM WELLESLEY

Wellesley Wilson

Although it is the shortest month of the year, February can feel quite long for a family in the middle of an admission process.

Now that your applications are complete, I want to give you some insight into what is happening in our office. The Admission Committee includes the admission team, appropriate division directors, and grade-level faculty, have begun to read all that you have shared with us. Some girls love playing with Legos, while others are most comfortable with a copy of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Some girls are responsible for taking care of the family pets, while others are trying their hand at writing their very first story. Some girls have been challenged by English grammar this year, some by math concepts, and many girls have beloved teachers who have shown them that they matter. Regardless of who your girl is in this moment, we know all girls desire to be seen and heard. My promise to you is that we are making time to see all of your student.

Our review process is comprehensive, and there is no one part of the application that determines an admission decision. Throughout the year we have spoken about a holistic admission process, and we mean it. Our admission conversations mirror what happens in our classrooms daily. We engage in a deliberate dialogue that is student-centered, active, and respectful. Every girl has her chance to shine.

We are working toward our admission and financial aid notification date of Saturday, March 2 at 8:00 a.m. This is a shared date among many Nashville independent schools. We will send email reminders to you in the days leading up to this date to ensure you are able to access your admission portal where you will find your admission decision. In the meantime, I hope you will keep in touch if you have questions. Our partnership with you is so very important, and we are always just a phone call or email away.

I appreciate you investing your time in getting to know Harpeth Hall this year.

With deep gratitude,

Wellesley L. Wilson

Director of Admission and Financial Aid
