NashvilleSites.org launched in November 2019 as a major new program funded and sponsored by the Metro Historical Commission Foundation. Dr. Pethel, Harpeth Hall Archivist and Asst. Professor at Belmont, is the program's executive director. NashvilleSites.org provides credible and engaging walking tours (that can be taken in-person or virtually) related to historic or culturally significant sites within Nashville with delivery available on all devices: mobile, tablet, and desktop. The 25+ tours are based on themes and neighborhoods, but participants have the opportunity to customize their experience based on their interests—providing an individualized adventure-style experience. Each tour also comes with audio narration, maps, and historic images.
In this Winterim for Adults session, Dr. Pethel will lead the group through a virtual tour and show participants how to navigate and find other tours of interest to take after the session. As a city known to promote both tradition and progress, tours are based on a wide range of themes that focus on Nashville’s history and culture: celebrations and conflicts, accomplished women and men, landmarks and hidden histories. Let the journey begin
