Meet the Patel Family

Roshan, Minal, and Maliya, 8th Grade

Roshan and Minal are Nashville natives and have known of Harpeth Hall. However, it was Maliya that spearheaded their search to switch schools. Maliya previously attended a co-ed school, and she wanted a change to an all girls environment.

As a parent, what influenced you to consider, and ultimately enroll your daughters at Harpeth Hall?

As parents, we were drawn to Harpeth Hall’s strong academic reputation and commitment to developing confident young women. The deciding factor for us was the school’s emphasis on fostering leadership skills, resilience, and a supportive community where girls can thrive.

In what ways does Harpeth Hall encourage Maliya’s academic and cocurricular interests?

Harpeth Hall provides Maliya with a diverse range of academic opportunities, particularly in STEM and the arts, while also encouraging her involvement in cocurricular activities like mock trial and sports. We believe the school’s resources will help her explore her passions and develop new interests in the years ahead.

What are you most excited about as she continues her journey?

We are most excited to see Maliya grow into her own person, embrace challenges, and make lasting friendships. The opportunities for personal and academic growth at Harpeth Hall are truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to watch her grow!

How does Harpeth Hall’s mission align with your own values as a family?

Harpeth Hall’s mission to empower young women resonates deeply with our family values of integrity, community, and resilience. We believe in nurturing Maliya’s individuality while encouraging her to contribute positively to society.

In what ways have you gotten involved in the Harpeth Hall parent community? How would you describe the parent community?

We’ve gotten involved by attending school events and volunteering for committees. Building relationships with other families and supporting the school’s initiatives has been incredibly rewarding. The parent community has been very welcoming and is such a wonderful resource for us.

What advice would you give families as they go through the admission process?

My advice would be to stay true to your values and let your child’s unique personality shine through in the application. Engage with the school community, ask questions, and visit the campus to get a feel for the environment.  Try to make the process as stress-free as possible.

What would you share with prospective families about the value of an all girls environment?

I would share that an all-girls environment fosters empowerment and confidence, allowing girls to express themselves freely without the societal pressures often present in coeducational settings. It provides a unique opportunity for them to lead, collaborate, and grow in a supportive atmosphere.
