On campus Winterim offers freshmen and sophomores the very best in experiential learning, creating for them a chance to see their academic studies take a tangible, dynamic form.
This year, students chose from among 76 different classes including opportunities to explore the field of neuroscience, design robots for use in medical applications, contemplate gender roles in history and literature, discuss the Supreme Court and civil liberties, and study everything from Jane Austen to Forensic Science.

"My favorite classes from Winterim this year would have to be Fast Fashion Alternatives with Mrs. Noel and Beyonce's Feminism with Mr. Chappell. These two classes gave me the opportunity to research more into their topics and get a better understanding of who I am as a person. I have learned so much about sustainable brands in the fashion industry and how being a feminist (in a Beyonce point of view) makes me a stronger and more confident young women. I am so glad I got the opportunity to take these classes and look forward to sharing my experience with others!"
"For me, Winterim has been a really amazing opportunity to try things I never would have before and broaden my perspectives on many issues in our Nashville community and the nation as a whole. One new experience for me began in my Tai Chi class. I never would have pictured myself doing Tai Chi, yet each day in this class I learned more and more about both China and this practice. Secondly, in my Do Something About Homelessness class, my classmates and I had the opportunity to learn more about the widespread issue and struggles of homelessness and even had the chance to visit Room in the Inn and connect with many of their participants from the Nashville area. This year's Winterim has been more interesting and impactful than I could have imagined, and I am so grateful for this opportunity."
"I took Forensics Science, Propaganda Brainwashing and Reality, Behind the Velvet Ropes, and Fast Fashion Alternatives. I liked exploring ideas and thoughts that you wouldn’t cover in the regular school day/curriculum. It also helped me discover other topics of interest. Harpeth Hall is a great school with a great environment of loving and caring teachers that want to help you achieve and succeed. Take advantage of this amazing opportunity!"
