What groups are the most affected by lack of literacy, and why is increasing literacy rates important?

In my capstone, I highlight certain groups that are most affected by a lack of literacy around the world. Additionally, I provide reasoning for why improving literacy is so important, and how going about increasing rates would be accomplished.
