Day 9 - January 14
Today we woke up sad to leave Camp Ocean Pine, but soon became glad to find that we would be traveling north to visit the National John Steinbeck Center. During our visit, we learned all about his upbringing and how his environment, Salinas Valley, influenced his novels. We were even able to see the original manuscript that Steinbeck hand-wrote of one of his novels! We had so much fun at the museum, and we cannot wait for the rest of the trip.
Day 10 - January 15
An early wake up called for some kayaking! We dove straight into calm waters on our ocean kayaks as we paddled down the Elkhorn Slough. We saw sea otters and harbor seals! For lunch, we enjoyed a lovely stop at California’s very own, In 'N Out. It was incredible. We then continued to take a scenic stop on the famous 17-mile drive around Pebble Beach golf course, and then off to do some local shopping in Carmel. Carmel was charming and full of story book houses and shops. After some exploring around the small city, we settled in at our hotel and went for dinner. We are ready to see what Monterey has to offer for tomorrow!
