What is the importance of technological innovation in the world?

I wanted to look at what exactly defines innovation. Then, I went deeper by looking at different countries that exemplify different key factors of innovation to see how they are doing and how they got there. How do you measure innovation? What does it impact? Why should a country focus its resources on innovation? These are the kinds of questions I attempt to answer in my capstone.
