For my SEEK project, I filmed crochet tutorials for beginners like me. My goal was to learn to crochet and to create tutorials that anyone could watch to learn the basic stitches and skills needed to start crocheting. To create my final product, I learned the basics of crochet and designed tutorial videos to teach others how to crochet. My perspective as a beginner helped me know what to emphasize in my videos. I used Wix to create a website to display my tutorials. In each video, I included information on a particular crochet skill, such as creating a sample square or learning to crochet a stuffed jellyfish. Each video includes additional information from my research including the history of crochet, community crocheting like “yarn bombing”, and current artists who use crochet as their medium such as Mulyana. Through the SEEK process, I learned how important time management is, and that not all products need to be perfect. I also learned to crochet!
