For my SEEK project, I researched ballet history from the 1550’s to the present day. During my research, I learned not only about different eras of ballet, but also famous dancers, ballet pieces, and different methods of teaching ballet. One of the most interesting things I researched was Vaganova barre and the Fairy Doll variation from the ballet, Die Puppenfee. For my final product, I wanted to share my new knowledge with others, so I taught a class to my peers about ballet history using different barre combinations and finished by teaching a variation. Because I used techniques from different time periods in the barre and variation, I was able to compare and contrast them to show the evolution of ballet while my classmates were learning. I uploaded footage of this class to a padlet so it would be more accessible to people who would like to learn more about the history of ballet. Through SEEK, I learned the values of determination and collaboration while deepening my knowledge of ballet.
