My goal was to write an original script for the stage. First, I researched all the components of playwriting, such as character development and humor, along with proper formatting for a published script. After extensive brainstorming, writing a rough draft, and editing, I had a final product. But I wanted to find a way to share my one act play with others. So I decided to conduct a table read. I gathered friends who were interested in theater, and they read aloud for each character while I read the stage directions. We then video-recorded the whole process so I could have a visual representation of my one act play to share with others. Through this experience, I was able to expand my knowledge of playwriting, and I was able to work on limiting my perfectionism so it doesn’t prohibit me from accomplishing my goals.
