I researched color psychology and how to use the principles behind color psychology in classroom design and arrangement. I researched how natural light, desk arrangements, and wall color impact a student’s focus. Through my research, I discovered that Harpeth Hall Middle School’s green and yellow classrooms are the optimal colors to support student focus. Using my research, I created four different model classrooms that show different wall colors, desk arrangements, and natural light based on what subject is taught in that classroom. I learned that a lot of research and planning goes into designing learning spaces, especially the little things that I would never have noticed before.
