For my SEEK project, I focused on understanding more about the salinity of the Dead Sea; why it contains so much salt, how salinity and density help people float in the sea, the healing benefits of the Dead Sea, as well as how its minerals can be enormously beneficial to the human body. My goal was to educate middle school students on how salt can affect not only the surrounding environment, but how it benefits the human body. To do this, I researched how certain minerals within the Dead Sea have affected humans in the past, and how tourists use the Dead Sea today. I also researched how the Dead Sea’s minerals benefit people’s skin, health, and bones. With this information in mind, I created a two-day lesson plan for middle school students, including guided notes, a salinity explanation, a density experiment, and several Blooket review games. Through SEEK I learned to be better at organizing research efficiently and explored many fascinating aspects of the Dead Sea. |
