I researched the brain, specifically neuroplasticity, its relation to memory and how it changes with age. Neuroplasticity is the brain’s cognitive ability to adapt based on experiences. My goal was to design and run an experiment that brought my research to life. My research focused on both the concept of neuroplasticity and the experimental design process. Inspired by the connection between neuroplasticity and memory, my experiment focused on the differences in short-term and long-term memory recall of developing children’s brains compared to fully developed adult brains. For my final product, I created a hypothesis, designed and conducted an experiment, and analyzed the collected data. Thank you to all the teachers and students who participated in my experiment. The results were really interesting and I learned a lot about experiment design and data collection and analysis. Through SEEK, I deepened my knowledge of neuroplasticity, its functions, and the human brain, while also learning how to persevere, be patient, and problem solve.
