Aphantasia and the Spectrum of the Mind's Eye
Elizabeth Read

Lily Hare '26

I researched the science behind the mental disorder, Aphantasia, which causes an inability to see imagery inside the mind. I spent time studying the steps taken to officially diagnose the disorder through questionnaires and brain scans. My research led me to create an interactive website containing information about Aphantasia itself as well as a self-assessment that reflects what modern neurologists would use to assign where someone would fall on the Phantasia spectrum. Completing SEEK led me to appreciate my brain’s vision and how it benefits my everyday life.
