For my SEEK project I wrote a thirty page historical fiction novella about the Bubonic Plague that spread through Europe in the Middle Ages. My goal was to create a story that others would find engaging using the information I gathered about this event. To do this, I researched the processes young writers use when exploring new topics in their writing, as well the history of the bubonic plague, including how it was transferred and treated. For my final product, I told the story of a young girl Annora and her younger sister Nadia’s journey to survive this pandemic titled: A Pocket Full of Posies. Additionally, I designed a book cover using Canva’s AI generated image tool. Through SEEK, I learned how to persevere through puzzling times, when I was not sure how to progress. I also learned the value of time management while balancing the workload of school and after-school activities.
