Welcome from the Head of School

Over 150 years ago, our visionary founders boldly created a school, which provided an excellent education to girls and young women in Nashville, Tennessee.  We remain bold and committed to carrying out that mission today, as we guide fifth through twelfth grade girls to discover what it means to think critically, to lead confidently, and to live honorably at this particular time and place in history.

As one alumna said, “Harpeth Hall is a place where girls matter - they really matter.”  Girls are seen and heard and are encouraged to take healthy risks each day.  We know girls, and we know that building confidence and resilience go hand in hand with learning to lead ourselves and others.

We are happy that you are exploring our school today.  We know you will see evidence of our love for what we do, and how we frame the best education for girls as they discover their unique voices and their connection with the world around them.  In the middle school, our girls stand on a firm foundation of skills in STEM, humanities, and visual and performing arts as they are encouraged to go beyond the curriculum with our S.E.E.K. program. In the upper school, our students explore a deeper understanding of the liberal arts curriculum and become proximate with the world around them through Winterim, International Exchange, Public Purpose, or participating in a Global Education.  I hope you will take a look at our Digital Humanities page as an example of how we re-imagine interdisciplinary teaching and learning today.  Need to hear more?  Just listen to one of our alumnae tell the story of her experience at Harpeth Hall.

We hope you enjoy learning more about our school through our website today, and more importantly, we hope you will come to our beautiful campus (see the campus map). We are located at 3801 Hobbs Road.

We welcome you warmly.
