At Harpeth Hall, we believe in the dignity, power, and unlimited potential of every girl.

Having educated girls and young women for 160 years, we know that for a girl to thrive academically and personally, she must be a part of a learning community where she feels valued, challenged, and respected. When our girls are accepted and celebrated for who they are, they come to school each day ready to engage, learn, and lead.

Belonging at Harpeth Hall is not about being the same; it's about being connected.

Through programs, events, and classroom experiences, we encourage each Honeybear to embrace who she is and to learn more about the people around her. We believe that an array of perspectives, backgrounds, and life experiences strengthens our entire community. We work together to plan, design, and lead meaningful initiatives that nurture curiosity, foster meaningful relationships, deepen our understanding of each other, and develop the global perspectives essential for our girls to make meaningful contributions to their communities and the world.

When students, families, and faculty feel a strong sense of connection to one another and the support of our school community, we all thrive. This commitment is rooted in our mission to educate girls and young women to think critically, lead confidently, and live honorably.

Strategic Design

In Harpeth Hall's strategic design, we elevate three strategic priorities — educate boldly, cultivate confidence, and amplify purpose. In line with these priorities, our school aspires to bring together a student and faculty community reflective of a diversifying Nashville. We nurture a diverse and supportive learning community where all are known, affirmed, and intellectually inspired. We provide opportunities for each girl to discover the power of her voice and the importance of attentive listening. We work to ensure our students and faculty have the skills to lead open dialogues about the issues confronting our community and our nation. We know it is imperative to prepare students to succeed in an increasingly multicultural society. We are pleased to share our strategic priorities.

Enhancing Education

Harpeth Hall students and faculty attend conferences each year to build community and enhance learning.

SOLID conference - Nashville

The SOLID Conference (Student Opportunities in Leadership, Inclusion, and Diversity) is a student-led, student-centered, one-day gathering of diverse student leaders from Harpeth Hall, Ensworth, and Montgomery Bell Academy high schools. The focus is coming together to share experiences, learn from each other, and build community.

Student-Led Organizations

Harpeth Hall student leadership and affinity groups create intentional spaces for dialogue and engagement regarding equity, inclusion, and belonging. Students convene to collectively support and celebrate one another on campus and beyond.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Better Together is composed of collaborative, thoughtful middle school leaders from diverse social, religious, and cultural backgrounds. They partner with the director of equity and inclusion to help plan, design, and implement ongoing cross-cultural initiatives and learning opportunities for the school community.
Members of the Campus Connection Council work together to plan, design, and lead meaningful initiatives that celebrate each student and promote belonging within our school community. They create and support multicultural programming, encourage thoughtful dialogue, and help build a more welcoming environment for all students.
Melanated is a middle school student affinity group that invites girls of color (5th-8th) to come together.

UPPER SCHOOL

Asian Student Association builds a supportive community, promotes cultural understanding, and celebrates the diverse cultures of Asian students.
Black Student Association provides Black/African/African American upper school students with affinity programming as they come together to engage through shared identity and sisterhood.
Hispanic Student Association offers a space for student connection, recognition, and empowerment of their unique Hispanic heritage. This association is not centered around the Spanish language but is instead centered around the celebration of culture, personal experiences, and identity that is uniquely shared within the Latina community.
Jewish Student Association provides a supportive community for Jewish upper school students to come together for social interaction and to organize events that educate students and faculty about Jewish culture, traditions, and history.
Neurodivergent Student Alliance aims to promote understanding of neurodiversity and empower students to recognize their strengths and capabilities.
Sexuality and Gender Alliance provides upper school students affinity programming.
BELONG provides upper school student leaders a space for innovation and bright ideas.

Learning and Listening

A step beyond our school's everyday curriculum, these programs build on the interests and talents of our students and provide a chance for them to expand knowledge, be inspired, surprise themselves, and find their place in the world.

CENTER FOR CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

This upper and middle school program fosters informed and open discourse as an integral component of a Harpeth Hall education and an essential characteristic of responsible citizenship. Abiding by the Harpeth Hall difficult dialogues guidelines, students explore, understand and critically examine their own beliefs as well as alternative or opposing beliefs. Thoughtful consideration of multiple perspectives and stories encourages empathy and prepares students to participate constructively in these dialogues both in the classroom and in the public sphere.

GLOBAL SCHOLARS AND PERSPECTIVES

The global education program at Harpeth Hall supports multidisciplinary learning, independent inquiry, and the capacity of students to identify global challenges, investigate solutions, and collaborate with others to transform knowledge into action.

Affinity Groups for Faculty and Parents

Affinity groups for faculty members and for parents serve as intentional spaces of camaraderie, mutual support, and networking in alignment with strategic community goals. These spaces affirm all members of our school community. Currently, our spaces include:
