HARPETH HALL MIDDLE SCHOOL LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

The Harpeth Hall School's Middle School Leadership Development program is designed to help each student realize and embrace her leadership potential. This program brings the part of our mission statement , "lead confidently," to life.

Within each grade level, students focus on topics and activities that reinforce leadership characteristics so that by the eighth grade, each student has had a wide range of experiences and reflections. The program fosters responsibility and consistency, the willingness to be a role model and ability to identify problems and solutions, along with the ability to inspire and motivate others.

As a family of Harpeth Hall leaders, we work daily to shape our community for the better.

The Middle School Leadership Development program is built around ten leadership attributes. These attributes are divided strategically among the four grades in order to broaden each student's understanding of what a leader is. We want them to realize that being a leader is more than standing at a podium. The goal is that each year, students will embody their grade level leadership attibutes and carry the qualities forward as new attributes are added.

Magnolia Logo
The magnolia has been chosen as a symbol of the leadership program because of its beauty and strength.  At Harpeth Hall, the magnolia blossom has a rich tradition beginning with our end of the year celebrations and Lady of the Hall recognition. With the Middle School Leadership Program, it now also represents the opportunities that each student has to develop leadership characteristics in the classroom; through activities and organizations; on the athletic fields, dance floors, and performing stages; in the field of service; and during events and school-sponsored trips.
